Pacific Nippers is a volunteer‑run program, and we rely on parents to help every single week.
With around 170 Nippers in the program, volunteer support is what makes the program safe, welcoming and fun.
Every family can help in some way, whether that is beach setup, BBQ, helping an Age Group, working toward water safety qualifications, or supporting carnivals. Volunteers make Nippers possible.
To keep Sundays running smoothly, we encourage all parents to lend a hand. Many hands make light work.
You’ll receive reminders via Team App so you can plan ahead. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Please arrive early each Sunday if possible, to assist our Gear Steward set up the beach stations in preparation for Nipper activities.
Our BBQ Coordinators require assistance from approximately 9:15am each Sunday to assist with preparing, cooking and serving food for our Nipper families. Age Groups are rostered for BBQ duty weekly, which will be posted and announced weekly at Nippers.
Please help on the beach at the end of Nippers to assist with packing up the equipment on the beach. Alternately you can assist outside the clubhouse to hose down the boards and pack up the Nippers trailer.
Become an Age Manager
Become an Official, so Nippers can compete at Carnivals
Complete a Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) or Bronze Medallion (Bronze) to assist as Water Safety personnel
Become a Nipper Safety Assistant (NSA) is a new role formally introduced by SLSQ last year. For the U6, U7 and U8 age groups it is a lot of fun to have parents out in the water with them. We need you trained with some basic skills, however, to keep both you and our Nippers safe. You also need to be easily identifiable to the Age Managers and Water Safety Coordinator. To help with wade and shallow water activities you can obtain the Nipper Safety Assistant (NSA).
Nipper Safety Assistants are qualified to provide water supervision for wading and shallow water activities to the age group appropriate depth. No specific fitness requirements are needed.
Volunteers working in official roles with children need a Blue Card. Pacific’s Blue Card process follows SLSQ requirements, including linking your Blue Card to the club and completing required child-safe training through the SLSA Members Portal. If you plan to help in an official volunteer role, the office can help you understand what is required and how to complete the process.
Blue Card Application Process
It is a requirement of Surf Life Saving Australia that all patrolling members 18 years or over, and volunteers working in an official role with children, must hold a current Blue Card; Queensland’s ‘Working with children’ check.
If you do not have a current Blue Card, or you need to renew visit the Blue Card Online Application Portal
https://my.bluecard.qld.gov.au/login.
Please have a QLD Drivers Licence or Customer Reference Number on hand.
Once you have started your application, you will be sent an email asking to link to your Volunteer Organisation.
Complete this form and include the number given to you by Blue Card Services to be linked to Pacific.

SLSQ will then link your application to our club. Wait to receive an updated email from Blue Card Services to then complete your application.
